The house, formed part of the prestigious 28-acre Belhaven Hills, during the 18th century, with Belhaven Palace as the centerpiece. In the late-1880s, Belhaven Palace was the place where European residents in Travancore used to meet and socialize. In 1902, the then Maharaja of Travancore, HH Sree Moolam Thirunal purchased this exquisite property for his Royal Consort Vadasseri Ammachi, Panapillai Amma Srimathi Lakshmi Pillai Karthiani Pillai Kochamma.
